Having a good set of weight lifting clothes is not only practical, but it focuses the mind at the stressful and fulfilling task at home. By donning your special clothes every time you head out to lift weights, it will motivate you further and get you in the mindset to challenge yourself and push your limits. Now, these clothes could technically be anything to get this effect (many lifters have lucky shirts and the like); however, it's much more practical to have a set of clothes that can handle stress, sweat, and a lot of washes.
First, wear loose, but not baggy clothes. A person exercising needs clothes that they can move freely in without any tension. Not only, would such a setup be uncomfortable in the first place, it could also lead to a limited and less effective workout at the same time. For this reason, it's always better to go loose.
Second, consider the fabric that the clothes are made of. Cotton is comfortable, but it wears out and stains from sweat easily. Instead, mixed fabric or polyurethane fabrics are light and can hold up to a lot of washes. Additionally, these types of fabrics are excellent a wicking away moisture (sweat) away from the body. This leads to a much cooler feeling, which means more comfort and better results.
As a final consideration, make sure it's tailored to your look and style. You want to be practical, but you don't necessarily want to be sitting around in something you don't like. After all, you need to be motivated.
